IndigeFit Kids is a philanthropic campaign of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) to support the health and well-being of Native youth in Minnesota. By prioritizing physical activity and healthy lifestyles, we’re on a mission to empower young people to build strong bodies and minds. The health of Native youth today is fundamental to the vitality of Native communities for generations to come.

Native youth face significantly more health challenges than their non-Native peers.
In Minnesota, only 28% of children between 6-11 years old are physically active for at least 60 minutes per day.
Childhood physical activity is crucial to healthy bone, muscle, and cardiovascular system development.
Physical activity during childhood has been associated with lower rates of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.
